Good Ecotourism Operations also promote education campaigns and ways travellers can continue to reduce impact while at home or on new and exciting adventures, one that we love is the “Take 3 for the Sea” campaign.
What is “Take 3 for the sea”
Take 3′ is a not-for-profit organisation formed in Australia in 2009 that aims to raise awareness of plastic pollution (marine debris) by encouraging each visitor to the beach, waterway or…anywhere to simply take 3 pieces of rubbish with them when they leave and dispose of it thoughtfully. We also encourage everyone to reduce unnecessary plastic consumption – and make our lives a little less plastic!

‘Take 3’ aims to expand their message throughout Australia and the world and the group has already recieved widespread acclaim for their simple yet powerful message. In March 2011 ‘Take 3’ was awarded the Innaugural ‘Taronga Conservation Society Green Grant’ and a $50, 000 purse to help develop the organisation. Take 3 now have a growing network of supporters and Chapters around the world.
Take 3’s mission is to significantly reduce global plastic pollution through education and participation. We encourage people everywhere to educate and inspire others; participate in clean up activities and to share their story. Together, we can reduce global plastic pollution.
Region X have incorporated the Take 3 philosophy into all our outdoor tours, our hope is that we don’t find any rubbish on tours, but unfortunately it blows, or drifts in from elsewhere, you will see our staff racing around collecting marine debris and encourage our guests to take home the idea and continue the clean up!
