The Azure Kingfisher, with a wide distribution is often seen in the mangrove estuary of the Clyde River National Park. Its striking appearance can be seen as it leaves its low branch, often only moving 20 metres away to perch on another low branch. You can glide quite close in silence using kayaks and the views are quite rewarding! Sea kayak tours that visit hidden backwaters of the east coast river systems often spot amazing birdlife, Region X now offer specialty kayak departures to view birdlife in our region and our staff are knowledgable birder watchers.
