Burrewarra Point has a charming walk through a mature banksia forest with views of the coast and hinterland. It is a fine place to spot whales from September to November. In Autumn, the large grey-green flower spikes of the banksias open, attracting a variety of nectar eating birds. Please note the cliff edges are not fenced making the walk unsuitable for toddlers and small children.
Access to the walk out to visit the lighthouse is off George Bass Drive some 25km south from Batemans Bay. Turn into Guerrilla Bay off George Bass and Drive to the end of Burri Pt road and park in the designated carpark. Its about a 20 min walk out to the lighthouse.
Burrewarra Point Lighthouse
The Burrewarra Point Lighthouse was commissioned in was first exhibited in 1974 and was powered from batteries charged from the mains power. It was converted to solar in 1984.
Humpback off Burrewarra Point
A great way to see the lighthouse is also via Sea Kayak. On a calm day one of our most scenic tours departs from Guerrilla Bay on the north side of the point and finishes at Barlings Beach on the south side of the point. The tour rounds our most easterly region of land (hence a lighthouse) and stops midway for swimming, food and relaxing on a amazing beach surrounded by 5om high cliffs.
Seals, whales, migrating birds, turtles, flying fish and bait balls feeding have all been spotted on this tour.
